At the International Business Times UK I cover daily national news to do with business, economics, finance and politics – from Labour’s big victory in the local elections, to the latest dismal economic data for the UK, to features such as looking at the revolting shareholders angered by executive pay.

Sometimes I also help out with general news coverage for the website when I’m needed.

I have an archive at The Lincolnite, a hyperlocal news and events website for Lincoln, where I was a politics and local authorities reporter.

I covered the likes of a public meeting against the closure of a local special school, city council meetings, the local Islamic community’s ongoing battle to build the first mosque in Lincoln, as well as reporting on shocking health figures for the area.

On a slight tangent from my regular remit, I helped make a video about the bell ringers at Lincoln Cathedral.

You can see my work at The Linc, the University of Lincoln’s award-winning student publication, which I edited.

A couple of things I’m particularly proud of include our coverage of the 2010 general election, which earned us a nomination for a BBC Innovation Award, and an investigation I did into a student accommodation provider in Lincoln.

We also made big production efforts when covering our Students’ Union elections.

I also presented a weekly podcast for The Linc, which went out on iTunes and Siren FM.

There was an investigation I did into British soldiers and racism on Facebook, which was published in the Guardian.

MSN UK had me in for a stint of work experience. I wrote things on climate change, freezing cold weather, and a round up of the week’s news.

I’ve also written for Southend’s hyperlocal site CouncilBust, where in one article I exposed controversial comments from the BNP parliamentary candidate for Southend West.

Sometimes I’ve been lucky enough to interview interesting, notable people, like Alan RusbridgerSir Harry EvansYasmin Alibhai-BrownMartin BellNick Davies, and Chris Atkins.

At Southend Radio, where I did work experience for a couple of weeks, I put together my own wraps, voice pieces, and vox-pop clips. I interviewed local people and senior figures, like the council leader, for broadcast.

I’ve also worked as a copy writer and communications officer for Sun-hat Villas, a luxury villa travel agent, where I wrote blog posts, ran a social media account, put together press releases and wrote and edited resort information brochures.
