Is Wikileaks journalism?

Perhaps a better question would be “does it really matter?”.

Still, there’s a debate about whether what Wikileaks is doing is journalism and I think it is.

When Wikileaks used to publish reams and reams of data on its own, there was nothing journalistic in what it did. It merely displayed raw, leaked information. It did not do journalism.

However, by now working alongside media organisations, what it does becomes part of a journalistic package. Read the rest of this entry »
