The Linc to stream university’s journalism speakers on its website

I often see visiting speakers at universities around the country and think ‘I wish I could have seen that’.

Usually a 200-mile train journey, Mr HSBC Overdraft, and a workload get in the way of making the trip. So when we at The Linc were asked to film the visiting speakers on behalf of the Lincoln School of Journalism, we thought we’d take it a step further.

Inspired by the Frontline Club who stream events live on t’internet, we thought we’d do the same.

For each visiting speaker in Lincoln’s “journalists speak out on journalism” series we’ll be streaming it live on The Linc’s homepage. We’ll then be archiving them on the site, for people to watch when they want.

Not only will this mean anyone across the globe can watch journalists like John Pilger giving talks, but students in Lincoln who are unavailable to attend will not miss out.

Hopefully we’ll see student media at other campuses do the same or similar — unless they’re already doing that? I’m not aware of any, but would appreciate being pointed in the right direction if anyone is.

Check out who’s speaking in Lincoln’s series of events.
